Data Deletion Policy

This page explains how you can request account deletion and what happens to your data.

    Last updated: March 2, 2026

    1. Scope

This Data Deletion Policy describes the process for requesting deletion of your GoodAction account and associated personal data.

This policy applies to individual user accounts. Some records may be retained when required for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, or compliance purposes.

    2. How to Request Deletion

You can request account deletion directly in the app from your profile:

    • Go to your profile dashboard.
    • Open the Danger Zone section.
    • Select Request account deletion and confirm.

Once submitted, your account enters a 14-day grace period before permanent deletion is executed.

    3. 14-Day Grace Period

Deletion requests are scheduled and not immediate. Your account is marked for deletion and a scheduled deletion date is set for 14 days from the request time.

During this grace period, you may still access your account and can cancel the deletion request at any time before the scheduled deletion date.

    4. Cancelling a Deletion Request

If your account is scheduled for deletion, you can cancel from the account deletion status view or from your profile.

If cancelled within the 14-day grace period, your account remains active and the scheduled deletion is removed.

    5. What Happens at Permanent Deletion

At the end of the 14-day grace period, your account and associated personal data are permanently deleted from active systems, subject to limited retention exceptions below.

This process is irreversible. After permanent deletion, account access is removed and data cannot be restored.

    6. Limited Retention Exceptions

Some information may be retained for a longer period where required or permitted by law, including:

    • Transaction and donation records required for financial and legal compliance.
    • Security logs and abuse-prevention records.
    • Data required to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or meet regulatory obligations.

Where feasible, retained records are minimized, restricted, and disassociated from your active account.
